Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
