Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
