It has been confirmed that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.

A Major Return to Panem

The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their appearance will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, given that the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.

This signifies the sixth installment in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

Delving Into the Prequel

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.

A New Era in Panem

The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.

The supporting roles feature several notable actors in important characters:

• Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
