The Two Fatalities Revealed in the Ivy League School Incident as Police Press On With Search for Perpetrator.

Two students who were killed in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their assailant continued following the discharge by local law enforcement of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted words of sorrow online, stating: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her family and friends, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said late Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a search at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last approximately one day.”

Community Anxiety

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our public”.

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a law enforcement official informed the news agency.

Police that searched the inn found two firearms and magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one student was released from the hospital, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

More Condolences

Cook was honored at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at Brown she was a shining example in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the group. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and peers,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his relatives, companions, and schoolmates and grieve for of his potential.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US higher education institution with about thousands of bachelor's and three thousand graduate students, took place amid one of at least 392 mass shootings recorded nationally so far in the current year, according to records.
